ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER FOR DESIGN

Columbia University is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join the Design Management team at its Manhattan Development Group, which supports the design and construction of a new campus in the Manhattanville section of West Harlem.

We are looking for an ambitious project manager to assist with the overseeing of design for major capital projects from inception, including programming, design, bidding, and construction. The Associate Project Manager for Design will be responsible for establishing design budgets, schedules, and quality standards. Additionally, this position will oversee the bid solicitation and award process of architectural and design consulting firms for major construction projects and provide assistance with contract awards.

The Associate Project Manager for Design will report to the Associate Vice President of Design. In this position, the incumbent will provide the Associate Vice President support with the management of consultants and contractors for design compliance and deliverables.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree in Architecture is strongly preferred

• Minimum of 4 years of related experience is required, with preferred focus on high-quality architectural design (Core&Shell, Interior Fit-out, and/or FFE)

• Project management experience, with a specific focus on design is strongly desired

• Must be able to interpret bid specifications, drawings, and bid estimates

• Working knowledge of NYC building codes, zoning regulations, and ADA standards is strongly preferred

• Working knowledge of sustainability best practices and industry certifications is strongly preferred
