The Agency’s administrative offices are located in Livermore, CA, the easternmost city of Alameda County, which is bordered by Contra Costa County to the north and San Joaquin County to the east. Zone 7 provides treated drinking water to  the City of Pleasanton; the City of Livermore; California Water Service Company - Livermore; and Dublin San Ramon Services District.

Assistant General Manager- Engineering, Zone 7

Join the Zone 7 Water Agency team as our Assistant General Manager of Engineering and make a direct impact on executing the strategic direction for our engineering and production sections.

The Position:

Under strategic and policy direction from the General Manager, to direct, plan, organize and manage Zone 7’s engineering and production sections; may be assigned to act for the General Manager in his/her absence, and perform other duties as required, which may include various on-call responsibilities.  

This is an executive management classification with overall responsibility for the agency's engineering and operations sections, managing directly and through subordinate supervisors.

Salary and Benefits:

YEARLY SALARY: $216,403 -$262,974

  • Managing people, technology and other resources to achieve outcomes;
  • Ability to identify and understand complex problems, make decisions, exercise good judgment, formulate action plans in a proactive and collaborative manner;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and in written form, with emphasis on a demonstrated capacity for active listening;
  • Exceptional organizations skills, including the ability to independently prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects; and
  • The capacity to maintain and foster a cohesive, interactive spirit and culture within the Agency.

Qualifications and Experience:


Possession of a Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering awarded by an accredited college or university.



The equivalent of five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional water resources engineering and water treatment facilities experience, three (3) years of which were in a supervisory capacity. 

License or Certificate:  

Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.  

Possession of a valid California driver's license. 

Special Requirements: 

Must be willing and able to work in areas where there is exposure to chemical, mechanical and electrical hazards, and outdoors in all weather conditions.  May be required to respond to off-hour emergencies.
