Job Overview:

This position is responsible for the discipline engineering activities and to provide technical support on pipe stress engineering activities for multiple projects in accordance with the project requirements, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Also needed to support mechanical engineering activities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare and maintain a comprehensive pipe stress files utilizing Bentley AutoPIPE software package.
  • Utilize 3D CAD (PlantSight/Navis) software to extract necessary information/dimensions to create pipe stress files.
  • Create technical specifications/details for expansion joints, slide plates, spring hangers, shock arrestors, pipe supports and piping restraints.
  • Create dimensioned piping support drawings for construction projects.
  • Produce stress calculations (manual and computed) using isometrics.
  • Calculation/interpretation of equipment nozzle loads.
  • Resolve piping layout issues related to piping stress.
  • Design of equipment (static/packages) by using Bentley Auto-Vessel software and development of mechanical specifications, datasheets, and technical requisitions for equipment.
  • Prepare technical bid evaluations for packaging/static equipment packages reviewing vendor quotes.
  • Generate technical clarification by interacting with vendors and suppliers to get the most optimum design according to project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Expedite, review and comment on material requisitions, bid evaluations & vendor technical documentation for equipment items and related bulk materials.
  • Interdisciplinary check of PFDs, P&ID’s and Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation drawings.
  • Review vendor prints using BlueBeam or other software.

Knowledge and proficiency in following Codes and Programs:

  • Codes: ACI 318-08 / State Building Codes / ASME B31.3 code / ASCE 7-16 / IBC
  • API/ASME/ANSI/ISO and other relevant Codes/Standards/RP with experience on ASME Section I and VIII pressure vessel and B31.1 and/or B31.3 piping codes.


  • Bentley AutoPIPE (mandatory)
  • Bentley AutoPIPE vessel (recommended)
  • STAADpro (recommended)

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-15 years of experience in the Petroleum Refining or Chemical Industry or with an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EP&C) company.
  • Experience working with pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and pumps.
  • Strong communication skills required to provide effective inter-discipline coordination on projects.
  • Highly motivated with ability to work in an interactive and open team environment.
  • Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and take direction from others.
