What will you do?

As a Project Development Engineer work at GSI, there is no typical day. You will not be working from behind a desk. You will be in the field, networking with your customers to secure new projects for GSI and building a book of business. This is as close as you can come to “owning” a company without the financial headaches of owning a company. You will be attending trade shows, delivering papers on the innovative coastal, inland and riparian geotechnical solutions you have created, giving demonstrations for the various solutions GSI has in its arsenal, you will be on site with your customers at the drop of a hat as we are a 24/7 emergency contractor, and you will win new projects and have an unlimited earning potential! How will you make a difference?

  • Research, understand and design Geohazard mitigation opportunities
  • Strategic planning (Vision, mission, structure) for Market Sector
  • Identify and cultivate key teaming partner relationships with industry professionals to generate new business opportunities.
  • Identify project opportunities
  • Create and expand GSI’s footprint in the geographic marketplace and build positive top of mind awareness.
  • Attend industry events and other meetings to stay abreast of market conditions, competition, and establish relationships with existing clients and prospects.
  • Provide ongoing progress updates on new business development activities and other key indicators as part of the GSI management team.
  • Identify and meet with potential acquisition targets. Will be a key member of acquisition execution and champion the integration.
  • Attends and hosts client meetings, trade shows, sales meetings and other miscellaneous industry-related events.
  • Challenges the status quo of the Market Sector, identifying new ways to improve the client experience.
  • Coordinates with Operations to provide clients with timely proposals.
  • Financial evaluation, budgeting, and forecasting for Market Sector
  • Promotes and maintains a culture of customer service, quality, safety and continuous improvement
  • Drive project-based quality, continuous improvement and execution standards in coordination with field support team

What You Need To Bring

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering degree required with 8+ years of experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Over 8 years’ experience with increasing responsibility with a successful track record of building relationships and business development.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure required
  • Prior Geotechnical/Geohazard experience preferable
  • Proven ability to establish profitable relationships with decision makers at companies and organizations.
  • Outstanding presentation and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make decisions and assessments quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to travel extensively as needed to accomplish position objectives
  • Self-starter that can self-manage with little oversight
  • Strong desire to develop their own book of business
