COST MANAGER

Job duties - Prepare accurate and detailed construction cost and project cost estimates from conceptual design through final construction document level design. Perform quantity take-off, pricing, and computer input for large building projects such as hotels, resorts, theme parks, schools, post offices, and hospitals. Assist in the analysis and review of blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for building projects. Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.  Research prices on material and labor using published documents, local conditions, market studies, etc. Computer cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes. Prepare monthly, weekly, and daily progress reports for presentation to senior project management, as well as to clients, to provide a general overview of cost control, cost forecasting, and planning. Develop and implement budget proposals. Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships. Provide value engineering services, set up work breakdown structure, and prepare task orders. Review, estimate, and reconcile change orders, often with a contractor’s or a peer review Estimator. Prepare detailed bid analysis and review. Keep abreast of federal, state, and local contracting guidelines and develop and implement project procedures in accordance with these general standards. 10% domestic travel to client sites.

Education and Experience Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management/Engineering, Engineering (any field), Quantity Surveying, Architecture or a related field and 2 years of experience with estimating, cost management, or quantity surveying in the construction or engineering field.

Background - One year of experience with the following (may be gained concurrently with the experience above): BlueBeam; Autodesk Revit; Navisworks. Also requires the following: Background using Excel to create calculations for construction estimates and scheduling (e.g. Gannt Charts); Knowledge of PowerPoint and Publisher to create and present project updates.
