General Summary:

The Director of Support Services must work safely and productively in an office setting and on various sized project sites from time to time. A successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated and willing to complete any task assigned, along with performing the essential duties of the Director Support Services position. All employees are expected to communicate, build relationships with other team members and use good judgment at all times. The Director of Support Services is expected to have the ability to perform all duties of the positions preceding it in its specific career path, while being responsible and accountable to complete any other tasks assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe manner, recognize and correct safety issues, and comply with WBI safety requirements
  • Serve as a safe and productive member of the Preferred Construction Supply
  • Serve on the Management Team and report in monthly Management meetings.  Participate as required with WBI functional work teams
  • Responsible for the processes and procedures for equipment repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Insure maintenance/repairs are performed in a safe, timely, quality manner and work is inspected as necessary to insure quality
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a supply chain strategy that will increase sales, reduce costs and insure product availability
  • Responsible for trucking/logistics of equipment and materials to the job sites
  • Manage the purchase, leasing or short-term rental of construction equipment
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of new purchases
  • Effectively negotiate rates on vehicle, truck and equipment purchases, as well as equipment rentals. Factor in ROI when making purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain maximum equipment utilization
  • Manage equipment rates
  • Develop and administer an annual equipment budget for executive approval
  • Develop strong working relationships with all equipment providers (dealers, rental companies, manufacturers, etc.)
  • Dispose of equipment, using sources where we will receive maximum returns. Evaluate these sources periodically.
  • Responsible for all licenses, permits and inspections related to vehicles
  • Responsible for the Equipment Module of the company’s information management system, including equipment usage, inventorying and job equipment costing
  • Proactively identify automation opportunities and make recommendations to the IT Director
  • Responsible for recruiting and retaining top talent
  • Perform employee evaluations and assist employees with planning and implementing performance improvements, goal attainment, etc.
  • Responsible for creating a customer service culture and which insures the entire team delivers exceptional support to the field
  • Responsible for leadership development within Preferred Construction Supply
  • Represent WBI in community organizations, such as Chamber of Commerce and Northeast Foundation. Participate at appropriate levels, such as board member.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities


Education and/or Experience:

  • BS or BA Degree required, or equivalent work experience
  • Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Construction equipment experience – 3-5 years required
  • Supply Chain Management – 3-5 years required
  • Enhanced computer skills (e.g., MS Office Suite, Warehouse and Logistics Software) - required
