CHIEF OF OPERATIONS

Chief Of Operations (COO), you will be directly responsible for the management of all active projects and actively participate in developing relationships to secure future work. The COO will provide overall leadership and direction to the project teams and develop and implement strategic and tactical operational plans in order to surpass the overall business and client objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • You will embody our core values and be responsible for supervising, developing and mentoring your team, creating a collaborative, problem-solving, and positive environment for all employees. In conjunction, you will actively lead and support a strong and consistent safety, cost and operating culture
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the project managers, superintendents and various other site personnel ensuring all projects progress safely, on schedule and within budget.
  • In collaboration with the Estimating team, participate in and oversee bid reviews for projects within your area and review and negotiate agreements and contracts where necessary
  • Take full responsibility for ensuring the most effective utilization of all resources (Supervision, manpower, equipment, Subcontractors, etc.) 
  • Review monthly project status reports and evaluate that schedules and plans meet the required project performance goals
  • Assemble key personnel for the project, utilizing internal resources as well as external through your existing network
  • With full profit and loss responsibility for all active projects, you will oversee and/or audit project cost controls, budgets, invoicing, estimates and project forecasts.
  • Where necessary, take a lead role in resolving any contractual, legal and/or compliance issues with owners, subcontractors or vendors
  • Take an active role in building a positive culture of collaboration and enthusiasm and assist in the hiring and mentoring of new employees and interns
  • Identification and implementation of new policies and procedures across your group to improve efficiencies and workflow, directly overseeing the change management process
  • Continue to build on a consistent safety culture across the organization

Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of proven Construction Management experience with a Large general contractor
  • Substantial experience on High-Rise Residential, Mix-Use, and Institutional projects
  • Prior responsibility for managing profit and loss for a business greater than $100M+ 
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to represent all project matters on behalf of the Company related to cost, schedule & contract matters with owner, partners and/or subcontractors
  • A strong business and financial acumen, coupled with excellent communication skills are a necessity
  • Proven ability to work through and overcome conflicts productively, while maintaining professionalism at all time
  • Prior experience managing subcontract negotiations, working with joint ventures, and oversight of major legal, contract and compliance issues
