Engineer - B (Plumbing & Drainage)

The New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) builds and renovates public schools throughout all of the boroughs. We believe that schools should be efficiently designed and constructed; they should be safe, attractive and environmentally sound. The SCA’s responsibilities span the life of each project (new schools, additions, and capital improvements to existing schools) from planning, real estate, budgeting, scoping, and designing, to construction completion.

We have an excellent career opportunity for an Engineer with plumbing and drainage experience who will be responsible for performing work in a variety of assignments and technical roles to achieve the objectives of the Authority. In this leadership role the major responsibilities include: project lead to plan, coordinate, direct Teams working on several complex design school projects for various type schools, special buildings such as large primary schools, small intermediate schools, special types of buildings, full modernizations, large additions, and specialized and/or numerous CIPs; train and develop internal staff in a specific engineering discipline; perform the duties of Engineer A when necessary, such as: preparation of scope, pre-schematic, schematic, preliminary and construction documents including reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications; provide overall coordination for in-house design projects; perform design review of work for engineering portions of multiple projects; monitor the progress of the construction phase of the project; conduct site observations, prepare field reports; assist in the preparation of punch lists and deficiency reports; review and/or supervise the review of contractor's submittals; review reports; maintain and develop general understanding of architectural and engineering principles; may be required to sign, seal, and file engineering drawings.


A valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer. Current New York State license must be maintained for the duration of employment, and three (3) years of full-time, paid post-licensure experience as a Professional Engineer; two (2) years must be as a project engineer; project, team, or squad leader; or a comparable level of responsibility.

Salary Range: $77,945.00 - $121,469.00 annually dependent upon qualifications.
