Summary: The Heavy & Small Equipment Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the operations of all equipment for effective maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs, and equipment use on company job sites. The Heavy & Small Equipment Engineer acts as a technical advisor on all equipment issues and assists the management team with equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases. Responsibilities: Engineer detailed, often complex, technical instructions for new and existing technologies; specify and order equipment/cables/hardware. Coordinate/project manage project specific installation designs and physical installations. Interface with Operations and other Implementation organizations to obtain critical pre-engineering information, site specific data as well as redlines and other end of job information. Develop an in depth technical understanding of our new and existing equipment and processes Prepare detailed startup plans for assigned commissioning activities, integrate all discipline activities into these plans. Development and standardization of existing engineering/maintenance procedures and transfer best practices. Proactively seek improvement opportunities in line with best engineering practices and drive continuous improvement at all levels. Assist with the development and implementation of factory and site acceptance procedures. Outline and specify critical spare parts and calibration equipment for both commissioning and equipment maintenance. Collaborate closely with other team members to ensure delivery of complete and fully coordinated solutions. Become the in-house expert on the production and facilities equipment and take on a supporting role for the equipment technicians. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited four-year college or university At least five (5) of related experience; highway construction and management experienced required Knowledge and experience of federal, state, and local regulations Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency with HeavyJob and HeavyBid is preferred Ability to effectively make well-informed and sound decisions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Goal oriented – ability to set goals and achieve them Organizational ability – able to plan, prioritize, organize, and monitor activities and projects.
