Job Description

 

The Safety Intern is assigned to a company location for a 10-12 week, full-time, summer program. Each intern will be provided a Mentor who will assign daily activities and assist with training as well as ensure the overall working conditions are compliant with local and corporate occupational safety and health regulations and procedures. Safety Interns will be given a list of goals to complete throughout the summer and summarize their experience with a final Presentation. Positions are available in North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.


Responsibilities may include:

  • Conducts site observations for safety compliance and behavior based inspections
  • Gather training documentation and other materials to ensure Projects have required OSHA documentation in place. i.e. Hazcom, rigging, cranes, excavations and scaffold scaffolds
  • Assists operations with pre-planning safety into all situations. Risk assessment and Job hazard analysis process of identifying hazards and putting in place controls
  • Assists with site specific toolbox talks and safety flashes
  • Attends morning JHA meeting and participates in project planning meetings
  • Provides Project team and jobsite support with safety expertise Assists project Team with daily pre-planning activities

 

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a B.S or M.S. degree in Occupational Safety
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Desires a career in Safety within heavy civil construction
• Must be able to legally work in the United States on a permanent basis
