The job engineer handles both office and field responsibilities to meet the project requirements, including implementation of scheduled work and tracking data and assists and acts as a liaison between contractors, superintendents, foreman, estimators, and engineers for a specific project until the completion of the project.


Including but not limited to:

  • Review and track job quantities and costs during work activies and update quantity book and JDEdwards.
  • Enter and maintain costs on assigned projects through JDEdwards.
  • Coordinate the development and updating of project schedules.
  • Review and code timesheets.
  • Ensure those in the field have the most current information and coordinate assistance.
  • Understand project specifications and verify compliance.
  • Prepare and track project submittals as required.
  • Draft RFIs as questions/discrepancies arise.
  • Review and provide procurement assistance for materials and subcontractors.
  • Ensure accurate job cost data and verify payments from owner and prepare pay estimates for subcontractors.
  • Prepare cost and time estimates to help in arriving at tentative project budgets.
  • Site visits and investigations as required and to resolve onsite conflicts between design plans and onsite conditions, clarify contract documents as potential complications arise.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental codes, standards, and acceptable practices are adhered to at all times
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
  • And other duties as assigned





  • BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 2 years experience in constructions or as a field engineer
  • Familiar with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, and all other highway construction scopes
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • JDEdwards experience is preferred
  • Experience with P6 scheduling software is preferred
