Job Title:                                 Cost Control Engineer

SUMMARY:

Dragados is an international contractor established in 1941 that specializes in major infrastructure projects. They are part of the construction arm of ACS Group, one of the leading infrastructure developers in more than 40 countries. Dragados USA targets large design build bridges, highways, tunnels, rail, transit, and dams of significant size or technical intricacy. No two jobs are the same! You will be responsible for a variety of cost engineering tasks on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel including; monitoring subcontractors working on the project, reviewing their pay applications, preparing change orders, reviewing work and preparing the cost projections, checking quantities, monitoring all related cost activities.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Review, work executed and invoices submitted by subcontractors with the Superintendents, to verify what is to be submitted for payment application.
  • Review the T&M work executed by subcontractors with the Superintendents, to verify what is to be submitted for payment application
  • Prepare the Subcontractor’s Change Orders.
  • Keep track of quantities executed and quantities to be executed in all project activities
  • Help prepare information for monthly job forecasting
  • Help maintain the cost monitoring system (eCMS).
  • Open cost codes and monitor that the costs are tracked properly.
  • Review quotations utilizing supplier information, cost standards, technical information from quality, manufacturing, engineering, and design.
  • Ensure that project charges are correctly represented for accounting’s closing process.
  • Evaluates that project charges are correctly represented for accounting’s closing process.
  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience within a construction firm, Construction experience in heavy civil projects and some field experience preferred
  • Knowledge in eCMS or similar system and knowledge in HCSS and Autocad preferred
  • Strong command of Microsoft office suite SW - Excel ,Word, PowerPoint
  • Organizational ability – able to plan, prioritize, schedule, organize, and prioritize activities
  • Willingness to learn - ability to receive instruction and apply knowledge to complete tasks with minimal supervision, seeks feedback and opportunities to improve
  • Problem solving – identifies critical issues, seeks relevant information, generates alternatives, logically weighs options
  • Clear communication and teamwork – excellent oral presentation and written skills,  listens, relays information and ideas clearly, and works effectively and cooperatively with others
  • Dependable with an emphasis on producing quality work - works diligently against deadlines, sets goals and achieves them, persists through obstacles, ensures work is timely and accurate
