Job Title:                                  Document Control Assistant

The Document Control Assistant is responsible for maintaining the flow of construction drawing documentation throughout the construction process.



  • Responsible to process all submittals and input into ACONEX
  • Maintain updated Submittal Log, monitor the submittal schedule and status.
  • Input RFI’s (Requests for Information) into the ACONEX.
  • Receive, log, and track plans and specifications as received including all revisions,
  • Distribute plans and specifications to contractor personnel as well as subcontractors.
  • Maintain all hard copy files of project documentation.
  • Maintain electronic copy files of project documentation.
  • Process and maintain files for change order requests, change orders, contracts, scope changes, and payment applications in an orderly and updated manner.
  • Process and maintain transmittals and associated documents.
  • Track and file project photos.
  • Maintain project FTP site.
  • Work with superintendents, engineers, and administration as required.
  • Work with representatives as required.
  • Other miscellaneous duties to support engineering department.
  • Support Construction Manager, Superintendents, and Construction Engineers in regards to submittals, RFI’s, drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college education preferred.
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is a plus.
  • 2 or more years in construction in similar position with similar responsibilities.
  • Proven knowledge of construction documents including handling submittals.
  • Knowledge of the construction process, proven ability in planning, organizing and implementing work priorities to ensure the orderly flow of construction documentation throughout the construction process.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating directly with engineers and administrative staff.
  • Proven to be a self-motivated thinker when assigned long term tasks.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency in other construction industry standard software packages is a strong plus.
  • Experience and proficiency in Primavera Expedition software is preferred.
  • Ability to get along with engineers and superintendents needed.
  • Strength in working with details required.
