Northern Illinois University (NIU) invites applications for the anticipated position of Architect I with the Architectural/ Engineering Services Department. This position is a full-time, 12-month civil service position. The Architect I is responsible for executing assignments and special projects, some of moderate difficulty which require a professional architect’s skills for analysis, planning, and design of spaces and structures. The employee will review and prepare construction documents and is responsible for construction project management.

The individual in this position works in association with other architectural and engineering staff in the department where multiple disciplines are required for completion of assignments. Individual works closely and coordinates appropriately with many diverse groups: faculty, staff, deans, Provost staff, contractors, students, government agencies, and outside community members. This position requires expertise in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD and Revit 2015 (Computer Aided Drawing}, Adobe Acrobat, SketchUp, Archibus, and other applicable support programs.

1. Licensed as an architect in Illinois
