SENIOR COST MANAGER

 

Job duties - Prepare and complete estimates for assigned projects of all sizes and complexity during various stages of design, from conceptual through to construction documents. Perform cost estimating and quantity take-off’s for construction projects in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and landscaping. Provide pricing expertise in various phases of construction work. Research prices on material, labor using published documents, local conditions, market studies etc. Prepare subcontractor analysis sheets. Partner with management team in developing new customers and growing existing customer base. Develop and nurture client relationships. Support senior management by providing needed reports and responding to inquiries for information. Mentor estimating technicians, estimators. Train on new technology and develop new skills. Attend reconciliation meetings and meet with vendors, contractors and subcontractors. Create and develop estimate templates catered to each Clients individual needs. Prepare and make presentations to new/existing clients on projects we are proposing/currently working on. Domestic travel to other company facilities approximately one day per month to cross-train and market to key clients. 5% domestic travel.

Education - Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or in a closely related discipline, or foreign equivalent.

Background - 3 years in cost estimation in one of the following areas: Architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, general construction, siteworks landscaping. Ability to use pivot tables, look-up tables, and multiple string logic statements in Microsoft Excel. Background presenting estimates to management and customers, including use of PowerPoint to create client presentations. Knowledge of On Screen Takeoff estimating software. Deltek to prepare project plans, prepare and track opportunities, and monitor project efficiency. Background completing project take-offs from initial construction documents. Technical knowledge of the construction industry and the ability to use cost-estimating methods including conceptual, quantity surveying and means. Ability to apply knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the construction field. Background relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions. Ability to perform change order estimating. Ability to cost-estimate from various construction documents including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents. Ability to peer review, evaluate, and reconcile cost estimates prepared by others.
