Job Summary:

The Superintendent’s responsibility is to supervise the field construction of a project and to complete the Work on schedule, within the budget and to the quality of workmanship specified. In the performance of this function, it is the Project Superintendent’s responsibility to protect and promote PULICE CONSTRUCTION INC’s interests in all matters and to do whatever is reasonably necessary, but is not necessarily limited to, the following.

Skills Required:

· At a minimum must have 15 years of hands-on heavy civil construction; preference to mass earth movement knowledge, large dirt excavations and large grading operations.

· Employee must be able to read blue prints, have an understanding of project cost analysis and effectively use the following computer programs within a reasonable amount of time:

· Basic Microsoft Office Suite and computer usage

· 30 hour OSHA training or Equal

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· To provide leadership and to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships of the on-site staff and to promote a positive project morale,

· To have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the General Contract, each Subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications and addenda, and to assist the Project Manager in the development of the on-site procedures,

· To examine the contract drawings, specifications and addenda for design deficiencies, impractical details and possible code violations, and to bring these to the attention of the Project Manager who will review them with the Owner,

· To assist the Project Manager in the development and refinement of the Project Schedule, and to work with the Project Manager to keep the schedules properly updated, and to see that the job meets the various required dates,

· To plan and review the Construction Program with the Project Manager including quality control procedures, safety and security practices, field office location and layout, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment and manpower,

· To coordinate, direct, monitor, and inspect the activities of the Subcontractors, Suppliers and PULICE’s labor, equipment and material,

· To verify that each Subcontractor has completed its contractual requirements / documentation prior to beginning its work at the jobsite. This includes a Certificate of Insurance, a fully executed Subcontract, a Schedule of Values and a Safety Program.

· To cooperate with, and direct when necessary, the activities of the inspection agencies, and to effect remedial actions indicated by the reports of these agencies.

· To review and approve all time and material work vouchers and invoices.

· To maintain good relations and communications with all involved in the project including the public. CHARGE ACCOUNTS: Review all Slips to ensure shipments are completes. Save slips for Project Manager.

The safety philosophy of Pulice focuses on accountability, which is driven by a set of expectations for each level of the company from Senior Management and Supervisors through our craft level employees. Safety performance is monitored at the corporate and project levels through our Trending and Auditing processes. Through our management review process, we look for the root cause of incidents, addressing behaviors and lagging indicators in an effort to continually improve our safety program.

Supervisors at all levels will participate in frequent training to maintain and improve their safety management skills. All new employees are required to participate in an introductory safety orientation. Safety meetings are considered an investment of time and energy for the development of the workforce, rather than an interruption of schedule/loss of production time. These meetings include daily pre-shift briefings, weekly tool-box meetings, and monthly project-wide safety meetings.
