The Corporate Safety Manager, P3/Large Project Segment is responsible for developing and managing the accident prevention program and the laws that relate to the safety of our work. The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for executing company safety policies and to ensure compliance of all applicable regulations as well as lead continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires travel to district offices and project sites.


Including but not limited to:

  • Administer, direct and manage compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met
  • Work with the Project Segment District Managers to implement and enhance the Project Segment safety program
  • Participate in all Root Cause Analysis calls/meetings and lead the implementation of corrective actions that are identified in the meetings
  • Lead the Safety portion of the Project Segment Startup Team engagement on all newly awarded projects
  • Develop and facilitate Area “Spring” Safety Meetings, and ensure that the meeting agenda/program is developed and ready for implementation prior to the December District Managers meeting
  • Supervise, develop and manage the Project Segment Safety Managers and Safety Representatives to ensure the effective administration of the project/company accident prevention efforts
  • Oversight of all safety training and education for the regions and assist safety staff when/where needed. Develop, organize and implement safety related programs that meet company safety standards
  • Measure the Segment and sites performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, work with safety staff and management to identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of local/state/regional regulations in the states that Lane works and company policy
  • Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Keep in contact with corporate insurance department to ensure proper documentation has been prepared and maintained on asset loss and workers compensation claims
  • Conduct regular walk-through of all work areas to identify hazards, evaluate controls, recommend improvements and communicate with team members. Promote safety visibility
  • Ensure safety recordkeeping and data integrity and provide operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives
  • Analyze safety metrics and review incident trends of accidents, injuries, and near misses through accident investigations and root cause analysis to work with safety staff and management to allocate appropriate resources
  • Audit the workplace organization and associated behaviors to ensure that training, safety assurance programs and scoring methods are accurate and consistent
  • Oversee project start-up and readiness reviews with management and owner representatives
  • Participate in developing and implementing strategic planning to meet Corporate and regional safety objectives
  • Monitoring and assisting safety staff with Safety Assurance Program of all job locations
  • Monitoring quality of the health and safety program through SOP implementation
  • Recognition and rewards program development and assisted implementation
  • Verifying and expediting both OSHA and MSHA citation abatements
  • Assist The Lane Construction Corporation Risk Management Department with all claims as necessary
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
