The Lane Construction Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Lead Estimator for our Glen Burnie, MD office. The Lead Estimator will report to the Chief Estimator and is responsible for managing, estimating, and bidding on some of the most challenging design build, joint venture, PPP and bid build projects throughout the country.

Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

• Review project plans and specifications to interpret and determine scope of work and required contents of estimates

• Visit project site to understand site conditions/restrictions

• Quantify project components

• Work with the estimating team to build the project estimate utilizing HCSS

• Assess scopes of work to assign crews (labor and equipment), productions, schedules, materials and subcontracting opportunities to compile and establish pricing within HCSS to cover project-related work activities from project commencement to completion

• Identify equipment needs

• Identify engineering needs for temporary construction to support specific means and methods

• Price assigned items within HCSS

• Provide preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project software

• Manage subcontractor and supplier lists to facilitate quotes for projects

• Communicate and follow-up with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit quotations for each project

• Actively communicate with DOTs, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure the projects minority goals are being regularly met

• Review quotations (pricing) from subcontractors/suppliers for completeness

• Research pricing for estimates based on historical and regional costs

• Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, PPP, Joint Venture or general tender work

• Leverage your Estimating experience to determine cost effective/alternate solutions

• Work with team to close the estimate

• Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values

• Other duties as assigned
