The Mechanical Engineer designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, software/systems, and machinery. This position supports the Design-build, large project group and requires relocation and/or travel within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting mechanics, electricians, and technicians with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions in order to minimize downtime as well as striving to improve equipment operating efficiency to maximize production, save time, save fuel and minimize labor including provide innovative equipment engineering solutions for the greater benefit of the company
  • Maintaining the Equipment Inventory
  • Notifying the project when new equipment is arriving and departing
  • Tracking and scheduling services on equipment as well as analyzing oil sample reports
  • Tracking and reporting of Equipment Utilization
  • Tracking and reporting Fuel Consumption
  • Ensuring that the equipment is available when needed and functioning as designed at all times
  • Assisting in the documentation of machine repairs and analyzing historical machine records
  • Maintaining a log of Annual DOT Truck Inspections and Crane Inspections
  • Managing the Electronic Equipment Folders
  • Works with vendors to assure parts and services are available when needed and opens new accounts as needed
  • Perform cost distribution for invoices
  • Liaison with vendors and procurement to resolve billing issues.
  • Gathering and presenting Equipment Cost to management
  • Supervision of shifts as needed
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
  • And other duties as assigned
  • Developing Equipment Salvage Values
  • Developing EOE,FOG,GEC and fuel burn rates

    Qualifications:

  • B. S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Prior experience in heavy equipment repairs and or management of heavy equipment repairs is highly desired.
  • 5+ years progressive work experience in heavy civil construction related industry is preferred.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including a willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or nightshift as needed for extended periods of time
  • Willing and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Capable of learning our GPS tracking systems program
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Drafting/CAD knowledge is desired
  • Willing to move as necessary
  • Willing to travel as necessary
