Engineer – Transit Systems

Reports to:  Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager


The Engineer should have an understanding of transit systems including but not limited to: Signals, OCS, Communication.  Responsible for providing input into the pursuit process as well as coordinating daily activities of Systems disciplines, commissioning activities, testing and other Systems related activities.


Including but not limited to:

  • Estimates costs related to personnel, equipment, and material needs

  • Oversees submittals, quantities, subcontractor operations, and general scheduling

  • Overall responsibility for job cost

  • Accurately identifies and consistently incorporates key design requirements in product and process development

  • Develops and maintains clear product, process, and material specifications

  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures

  • Integrates diverse or complex data into productive ideas

  • Makes decisions and selects appropriate solutions after reviewing all appropriate data

  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks

  • Monitors project quantities to track costs and prepares payment estimates

  • Liaison to field supervision, including internal superintendents and foremen, as well as those of subcontractors

  • Carries out job duties while maintaining Lane values
