Provide technical guidance and assistance to field and estimating departments in developing load lifting and movement specifications, supporting those departments in their project execution and proposal preparation.


  1. Provide engineered lift drawings showing required rigging/lifting components, equipment positions and clearances.
  2. Determine proper lift equipment to be used based on loading, lift location, space available, cost and intended duration.
  3. Provide engineered drawings for additional handling requirements such as hauling, jacking, trolleying, blocking or rolling.
  4. Understand unique applications of specialized rigging tools and equipment and be able to apply innovative and effective techniques to solve a wide variety of rigging and structural engineering challenges.
  5. Design and prepare drawings for temporary items such as lift lugs, lift beams, monorails, jig stands, and roller tracks that need to be fabricated.Interface with the purchasing department and vendors as needed to obtain suitable delivery.
  6. Survey the construction site as required determining the necessary dimensions and elevations of existing equipment and structures to become aware of potential jobsite interferences and hazards.
  7. Verify that any of the client’s facilities subjected to temporary forces during lifting operations are adequate to withstand the loads imposed.If they are not, provide means to strengthen or protect the client’s facilities.
  8. Interface with customer, subcontract, craft, and NCC personnel to coordinate rigging & lifting efforts.
  9. Employ problem solving skills to resolve rigging related issues.
  10. Respond to request from the project team when situations arise that may deviate from the plan or may require addition rigging expertise.
  11. When required, perform pre-lift jobsite meetings with employees involved in major engineered lifts.
  12. Review rigging aspects of jobs being bid with the estimating department to incorporate the optimal methods of project execution in the proposed schedule and price.
  13. Prepare drawings and narrative explanations of proposed project methods as requested by the estimating department for inclusion in bid proposals.
  14. Assist the purchasing department by preparing specifications for and soliciting quotations for rental or purchase of unique equipment, services, materials or fabrications relating to the rigging requirements so accurate pricing can be included in bids.

Required knowledge:

Working knowledge of industry practices, codes, regulations, standards, etc. that relate to the structural and rigging fields.Understanding of heavy industrial construction i.e., refineries, chemical plants, power houses.

Required Skills or Abilities:

Autocad or other similar drafting software. Microsoft office.  Good communication skills and excellent problem solving skills. Ability to climb ladders and stairs of customer facilities. Ability to enter confined spaces and pass a pulmonary function test to be eligible to wear a respirator.

Formal Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required. Professional Engineer’s License is preferred.


A minimum of (5) years experience is preferred.

Amount of travel required -  15%
