Sr. Business  Development Manager


General Purpose:  This position plays a key corporate role in development of opportunities in engineering, construction, and fabrication projects for the Company in the Refining and Petrochemical Markets. This position will serve as the subject matter expert for all Lauren new and existing customers in those markets and be exclusively focused on the development of these client relationships and markets. This position will report directly to the VP of Business Development.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Represent Company during market related solicitation and/or proposal process, project scope reviews, and participate in client project meetings whenever appropriate.
  • Collaborate with company management to prepare and implement the company’s Marketing and Business Development Plan and strategy for meeting business goals.
  • Develop new and maintain existing customer relationships.
  • Seek customers in company target markets through research and direct contact with potential customers.
  • Generate project/business opportunities and RFP’s through customer contact to meet company’s business plans and growth strategies.
  • Provide regular Executive updates, manage timely CRM updates, and participate in scheduled Company reporting meetings.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical/process engineering, or related field.

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive refining and petrochemical experience (including design and operations experience).
  • 10+ years of project/business development interfacing with clients.

Required Skills/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Recognized in the industry as knowledgeable and experienced with gas processing and refining process technologies.
  • Knowledge of process engineering practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of process economic principles.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need).

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

The overall nature of this position is medium/light requiring some physical effort with occasional physical exertion required.  There is occasional exposure to industrial noises and work hazards.

  • The constant physical demands of the position are sitting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • The frequent physical demands of the position are eye/hand/foot coordination, standing, walking, reaching, and handling.
  • The occasional physical demands of the position are standing, walking, reaching, handling, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).

Travel Requirement:

  • This position requires frequent over-the-road and air travel.
