The Senior Schedule Engineer will oversee all schedule functions for the projects in their assigned geographical area. The Senior Schedule Engineer provides guidance, leadership and mentoring to the project staff to ensure that quality project schedules are being produced and maintained. This person is responsible for developing and maintaining resource and cost loaded construction schedules.  The goal of the Senior Schedule Engineer will be to ensure that best practices are being followed with consistency and uniformity per the requirements set forth in the PMFM.  This will include regular reviews and analysis of the project schedules to determine schedule risks and deficiencies that need to be addressed.   


Including but not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Projects Division Schedule Manager to develop and implement processes and procedures that will improve our scheduling efforts.
  • Train and manage project level schedulers to ensure proper scheduling practices are being followed on the project.
  • Assist with the Project Start Up process for new projects in their area; Help ensure all topics are adequately rolled out; Conduct or schedule follow up training if necessary.
  • Assist Project Management team in the development, monitoring, and updating of Project CPM schedules to ensure PM/FM requirements are being met.
  • Assist the Projects Division - Schedule Manager to maintain an up-to-date Schedule Review process; Attend all Project Reviews for projects in their assigned area.
  • Assist the Projects Division - Schedule Manager to maintain an up-to-date Schedule Training and Development program.
  • Monthly review of project schedules to determine deficiencies.  This will include verifying proper scheduling practices, critical path is being followed, and resources shown in the schedule are matching actual resources on the job.
  • When scheduling deficiencies are identified, will notify Projects Division - Schedule Manager and District Manager and work with the project staff to remedy those deficiencies.
  • Interact regularly with Project Engineers and Managers; Keep up to date with key issues affecting the schedule; Visit projects once a month at a minimum, but as much as necessary; Attend meetings on the project when possible, such as 5-week planning meetings.
  • Work with project staff in preparation of Time Impact Analysis for claims and supplemental agreement proposals.
  • Build Project and/or Pursuit CPM Schedules, as needed.
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values.
  • And other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of heavy civil construction experience in both project engineering/management as well as scheduling duties.
  • Thorough understanding of Heavy Civil Construction.
  • Highly experienced with Primavera Scheduling Software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of estimating and project cost tracking and reports.  HCSS and JDE experience preferred.
  • Ability and desire to train others in CPM scheduling concepts and P6 software.
  • Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively.
