The Lane Construction Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Lead Estimator for our Waldorf, MD office. The Lead Estimator will report to the Chief Estimator and is responsible for managing, estimating, and bidding on some of the most challenging commercial concrete design build and bid build projects in the greater Washington, DC - Baltimore region.


Including but not limited to:

• Review project plans and specifications to interpret and determine scope of work and required contents of estimates

• Visit project site to understand site conditions/restrictions

• Quantify project components

• Work with the estimating team to build the project estimate utilizing ICE/MC2

• Assess scopes of work to assign crews (labor and equipment), productions, schedules, materials and subcontracting opportunities to compile and establish pricing within ICE/MC2 to cover project-related work activities from project commencement to completion

• Identify equipment needs

• Identify engineering needs for temporary construction to support specific means and methods

• Price assigned items within ICE/MC2

• Provide preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project software

• Manage subcontractor and supplier lists to facilitate quotes for projects

• Communicate and follow-up with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit quotations for each project

• Actively communicate with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure the projects minority goals are being regularly met

• Review quotations (pricing) from subcontractors/suppliers for completeness

• Research pricing for estimates based on historical and regional costs

• Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, PPP, Joint Venture or general tender work

• Leverage your Estimating experience to determine cost effective/alternate solutions

• Work with team to close the estimate

• Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values

• Other duties as assigned

•Minimum 5 years of participating in the estimating process including change orders negotiation, field cost tracking, project cost to complete reporting, experience, in heavy civil highway/roadway/bridge projects
•Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or related field
•Previous success in leading an estimating team
•Proven success winning project pursuits $50m +
•Bridge,Transportation, Heavy civil construction engineering experience is required
•Design-Build project construction engineering experence is required 
•HCSS HeavyBid, Primavera P6 experience is preferred
•Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
