Construction Project Manager

Responsibilities:

·       Manages, supervises, inspects and coordinates new construction and remodeling projects on assigned Campuses. Monitors construction timeline and ensures that contractors are maintaining an accurate schedule and performing to University standards, as well as reviews contractors’ billing performance.

·       Coordinates necessary interruption of services between administration, Facility Operations and contractor.

·       Reviews engineering drawings and specifications and serves as project coordinator with architects, engineers, contractors and Indiana University administrators.

·       Reviews shop and as-built drawings for University archives and Facility Operations use.

·       Provides feedback and recommendations to administrators and concerned parties on project cost analyses and alternatives, after project bids have been submitted.

·       Advises interior designers of special circumstances and facilities requirements; and advises and assists architects and engineers with contract change orders as required by new functions, unforeseeable conditions, code requirements or design refinements.

·       Maintains documentation of all assigned projects with IU issued software, including timelines, schedules, substantial completion and other elements of construction. Participates in departmental staff and construction coordination meetings with architects and engineers, and reports assigned project information and recommendations.

·       Facilitates and attends project construction contract bid openings; and coordinates training sessions for Facility Operations personnel on the use of new equipment.

Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field and two years of construction management experience and/or large-format planning OR High school diploma/GED and ten years of construction management experience and/or large-format planning.

·       Combinations of related experience and education may be considered.

·       Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

·       Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of customers and management levels.

·       Demonstrated construction management administration skills; and ability to read and follow large-format schematics, blueprints and drawings.

·       Proven organizational and problem solving skills.

·       Working knowledge and practical application and experience in word processing, spreadsheet, planning and data base software use as well as e-mail utility.

Note: This position will be based in Indianapolis at the IUPUI campus.
