POSITION DESCRIPTION: EXHIBITION AND GRAPHIC ARTS DEPARTMENT

Title: ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER, CONSTRUCTION

Reports to: Project Manager, Construction

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves as a facilitator of information between and among Construction Managers, General Contractors, WCS Construction Department, WCS project stakeholders, EGAD, the design team, and outside professional consultants. 

• Works with facility Operations staff on site logistics, utility shutdowns and construction items that affect facility operations. 

• Has competent working knowledge of construction and shop drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, change order requests and other construction administration documents. 

• Maintains daily logs of manpower and construction activities as required by the project. 

• Assists in preparing monthly reports which include: ongoing construction activities, project issues, status of schedule, etc. as required by the project. 

• Participates in coordination meetings and maintains project minutes and other documentation as required by the project; facilitates key project decisions between construction team and Ownership. 

• Tracks project budget to confirm status and to determine conformance with funding. 

• Assists in producing other reports and presentations as required by the project.

• Assists in coordination of change order documentation and of requests for information (RFIs).

• Assists in researching materials and other building components as required to support questions or proposed changes during construction.

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

•Bachelor’s degree, at a minimum, in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a closely related field.

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in design and construction or related field of engineering and architecture. 

• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to react to changing and sometimes challenging situations in a professional and calm manner.

• AutoCAD experience preferred. 

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Design experience preferred; graphic visualization skills a plus.

• Driver’s license required.
